Everything You Must Know About the Best Lake Resort in Laguna - Caliraya Resorts Club

Caliraya Resorts Club (CRC), situated in Brgy. Lewin, Lumban Laguna boasts itself as one of the best resorts in Laguna. Whether you are traveling alone, a couple, or as a group, this is a great place to stay and enjoy. Furthermore, this 7.6 hectares of lush greenery is an excellent place if you are looking for a perfect venue for team building activities.

How to Get There

From Manila, ride a bus bound to Sta. Cruz, Laguna. HM Transport, DLTB, and LLI are among the bus liners to choose from. But, if you are coming from Baguio, HM transport is the most convenient option because their terminal is nearby Victory Liner Cubao Terminal – it is at the back of Mang Inasal.

Tell the driver that you’ll drop at the last bus stop, which is in Pagsanjan/Pagsawitan. It takes around 2.5 hours to get there. From there, walk to the other side of the road and ride a jeepney with “LUMBAN” signage. Tell the driver to drop you at Lumban Market/Palengke, which is located at their terminal. Once you get out of the jeepney, walk across the road and go to the tricycle waiting area (they can be found at the entrance of the road going up to Caliraya). Inform the trike driver to bring you to Caliraya Resorts Club (CRC). But take note that the trike can’t take you directly to the resort because you will need to ride a boat to get there, which takes about 1.5-2 minutes.

You may have come across blogs telling about riding a jeepney bound to LUMOT as an easy way to get to Caliraya Resorts Club. But mind you, this option is harder because you have to go to Sta Cruz town proper and look for their terminal - this is the only way you can ride a jeepney going to Lumot, which can take you directly to Caliraya.

Another convenient option to reach CRC after taking off the bus in Pagsanjan/Pagsawitan is to hire a tricycle that will take you directly to Caliraya. Though this option comes with a hefty price as opposed to the other two options, the convenience it offers may outweigh the cost, especially if you have lots of (bulky) bags or traveling with at least 2 companions. The good thing about this option is that you can ask the trike driver to take you to a grocery store or market where you can buy food and other essentials before taking you to Caliraya.

Try their Fun-Filled Rides and Other Adventure

There are several fun-filled activities you can try, including Zipline (Regular and Superman), Giant Swing 101, Slide and Fly, Sky Bicycle, Hamster Wheel, Super Slide, and Free Fall. Take note that rates differ during weekdays and weekends.

If you want to try some of their thrilling rides, you can take advantage of their Ride All You Can promo. For just 599 pesos, you can have an unlimited ride to their 6 best seller rides - SKY BICYCLE, SUPERMAN ZIPLINE, ZIPLINE, SUPER SLIDE, GIANT SWING 101 & SLIDE & FLY from 8:00 am - 3:00 pm within the day of purchase. All you have to do is to avail of their Daytour or Overnight Packages.

Among these 6 rides, my personal favorite is the Super Slide where you will be sitting on an air-filled, ring-shaped device as you slip and slide through a 550-foot slide. But since you’ll get wet, this is the last ride you should engage into (apart from Slide and Fly, which I haven’t tried because they have strict restrictions on persons with braces and retainers). The other rides are enjoyable as well but if you tried similar adventures like Bike in the Sky and Giant Swing in Eden Nature’s Park in Davao, and the Superman Ride, Zipline, and Swing in Pugad in Pugo (like in our case), they aren’t as terrifying as it seems. Still, these rides are exciting for beginners. Most importantly, this unlimited ride promo is far more affordable than paying individually for each ride/adventure.

• They have a clinic you can go to if, unluckily, you are feeling unwell.
• They offer breakfast, lunch, and dinner if you choose not (or not allowed) to cook your own food.
• They have a multi-function hall that can accommodate up to 1,500 pax, and other function rooms that can cater to 30-500 pax.

Your Guide to Visiting Pagsanjan/Cavinti/Magdapio Falls (2019)

Having the opportunity to personally visit Pagsanjan Falls (Indigenous Name: Magdapio Falls) is a great experience. You get to see, explore, and enjoy one of the World-renowned wonders. But rarely do people know that this is also called Cavinti Falls as this is actually situated in the Municipality of Cavinti, not in Pagsanjan.

How to Get There

There are two ways to get to Cavinti Falls – via boat ride or trekking. The former is a better option if you think you don’t have enough stamina and energy for a trekking adventure.

From Manila, ride a bus going to Sta Cruz, Laguna (Php 166). For us, we rode HM Transport INC. because this is located in Cubao, near Victory Liner just behind Mang Inasal. It takes around 2.5 hours before you reach the last bus stop, which is in Pagsanjan/Pagsawitan. From there, ride a jeepney bound to Cavinti and tell the driver to drop you in Cavinti/Pagsanjan/Magdapio Falls intersection. From there, ride a tricycle going to the Boating Station or to Pueblo El Salvador.

Boat Ride: (Php 1200+)

Head to the Boating Station in Pagsanjan. From there, bangkeros will take you to and from Cavinti Falls. One boat can accommodate up to 3 pax only. Accordingly, it takes an hour before you will reach the falls. (I apologize for having little knowledge about this route because we chose to stretch our legs and lose some weight thru trekking.) Trekking Adventure: Pagsanjan/Cavinti Falls via Pueblo El Salvador (Php 285/Php 645)

Instead of going to the boating station, head to Pueblo El Salvador Nature’s Park and Picnic Grove. If you choose this route, prepare yourself to trek 2km going down where you will be passing through 586 metal ladders and rappelling thru 2 30-ft vertical metal ladders. Take note that some metal ladders are too narrow so you have to get down facing it while holding onto the rails to ensure your safety. But after passing thru these narrow metal ladders, viola! Witness the refreshing breeze of Cavinti Falls.

But wait there’s more! The adventure also includes a Balsa experience wherein you will ride a Balsa (Bamboo raft) going to the falls. Behind the falling water is a small cave where you can swim and rest for a while. As you raft back to land, the balseros/guide will pass you under the falling water. Brace yourself for its impact, especially if you are visiting during the rainy season or early in the morning when there’s too much water – it can be painful.

Getting out of Cavinti Falls

If you chose to go to Cavinti Falls via riverboat ride, your exit route is automatically thru boat ride also. But if you chose the trekking adventure, you can either trek back to where you came from or shoot the Rapids going to the boating station.

If you are used to walking, running or hiking, trekking back to Pueblo El Salvador may be easy. Besides, you can take advantage of their promo, which is an Unlimited Rest. If not, you might want to consider riding a boat. Do not force yourself to hike if you think your body can’t take the pressure – you can get dizzy or even lose consciousness if you insist. Just inform your tour guide so he can contact a boat for you.

Other things to consider when choosing your exit route is the accessibility of public transport and your next destination. If, for instance, you are heading back home or going to another tourist destination, a boat ride is a better option because the boating station is along the National Highway. As for the trekking adventure, no public transportation is passing thru Pueblo El Salvador. The only way you can get to Cavinti town proper is by riding a tricycle. Inform the staff if you are ready to head out so they can contact a tricycle for you.

For us, we hired a tricycle to take us back directly to our hotel, which is in Caliraya Resorts Club, primarily because we did not bring extra clothes.
